Services We Provide
Our primary service is tax return preparation for:
- trusts and estates
- small businesses
- small corporations
- tax-exempt ("non-profit") organizations.
In particular we specialize in tax issues for ministers and in advising churches in tax-related issues.
We provide representation. The quip "An attorney who represents himself has a fool for a client" might be applied to tax matters as well. Should you receive a letter from a taxing authority (i.e., the IRS or a state tax board) notifying you about an audit of your tax return (or a substitute tax return) then you should consider having someone familiar with the tax laws and audit procedures represent you. We do this providing there are no criminal issues.
We offer tax planning, whether one is considering a purchase or sale that might affect their taxes, or just trying to figure the proper tax withholding or estimated payments. We also consult with those planning to start or purchase a business, as there are many tax issues involved.
While we do not provide bookkeeping services, we are able to advise in bookkeeping issues or in periodic (e.g., quarterly) review and adjustments to accounting books for our tax clients.
Generally we prefer to refer clients to regular bookkeepers, as it will save you both time and money (and saves us a bit of frustration).
