Local IRS Offices To Remain Open?
With a clear need to step up enforcement activities, the IRS realized a need
to tighten their belt. The resulting plan included closing 68 of its 400
local offices (including Santa Rosa, CA). Congress, it seems,
didn't like the idea.
While there is no bill in hand to change the situation, bills in each house
provide the additional funding to permit these local offices to remain open.
(Actually, the provisions would suspend any closures pending further study.)
