Changes for the 2006 IRS Budget

The IRS budget for fiscal 2006 calls for a 1% decline in spending on taxpayer services and an 8% increase on enforcement.

We are aware of evidence to this effect locally. As of late 2005, the IRS is in the process of hiring a significant quantity of new auditors to work out of the office in Santa Rosa, California.
